The Geological Survey of Estonia once again invites all teachers and students to take part in Earth Science Week – our annual celebration of geology and the Earth beneath our feet, bringing science into classrooms and inspiring young people to discover how Estonia’s landscape was shaped.

This year’s Earth Science Week focuses on the Quaternary period and Estonia’s surface deposits – the glaciers, their retreat, and how life and settlement began on our land after the Ice Age.

📅 10–24 November 2025 – Join the nationwide Earth Science Quiz, open to all Estonian schools!

In addition, a teacher training day will take place on 23 February 2026 at the University of Tartu Chemicum building (Ravila 14a).

As tradition continues, the best quiz participants will be invited to visit the Arbavere Research Centre in spring 2026, where exciting field workshops and hands-on geology sessions await.

The Director of the Geological Survey of Estonia, Sirli Sipp Kull, says:
“Last year we met so many wonderful teachers and students during Earth Science Week – and it reminded us that geology can spark joy and curiosity in learners of all ages. Join us again this year to think, ask, and explore together – because that’s how curiosity begins and care for our Earth grows.”
